ESG / CSR
We believe that environmental, social and corporate governance issues (ESG) can affect the performance of our investee companies and may better align investors with broader objectives of society. We are determined to take appropriate considerations and strive for improvements in these areas in respect of all investments.
For several years there has generally been focus on corporate social responsibility (CSR). We believe in expanding the focus to also cover governance issues. Corporate governance is key to private equity investors such as PENM. Thus, it is via our powers and rights as shareholder and our influence as board member in our investee companies that we can make a difference. This also means that we are realistic in our approach. Sometimes our ownership share is limited and in such cases our ability to command changes are equally limited. Generally, we strongly favour a corporate process where we agree with our co-owners and the managers of our investee companies on improvements on environmental, social and corporate governance issues.
UN Global Compact
We endorse the UN Global Compact principles and we have since our inception successfully worked with our investee companies to ensure compliance with these principles. The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
